Collaboration and feedback are crucial components of any middle schooler's education. However, the products of collaboration are too often thrown away or unfairly shared. With google, this has all changed. In this session we will review the literature on the importance of collaboration and peer feedback for Middle School students, drawing attention to the NCTE position and Ken O’Connor’s work. We will then review the obstacles to effective collaboration and peer feedback, as we have experienced them (time constraints, student dynamics and inequitable work distribution, quality of product, lack of understanding or direction) and then outline how google can be used to overcome these obstacles.
